The Pico 2 is perfect for a range of jewelry applications, including design verification, direct investment casting and direct rubber mold making in either RTV or low temperature vulcanizing rubber molds. The Pico series of machines can easily print 10 standard shanks with settings at a very high resolution of 25um in approximately 4 hours or the more common 50um in about 2 hours. Direct Casting

Recently there were some issues with the SuperCast v1 and v2. As a response and as a result, Proto Products developed a killer direct casting resin called ProtoCast. I’m not sure we are willing to stop production on that material even though Asiga has just come out with it’s newest direct casting resin “SuperCast v3”. We are testing it now and in the meantime, ProtoCast is what we are offering. As soon as we know the test results, we will let you know.

We also have a new material right on the horizon from Asiga called SuperWax that is designed to be directly castable in phosphate acid bonded Pt investment. While the point of this new material was to obtain the ultimate goal of direct casting in platinum, it’s wax like properties make it ideal for direct casting in any metal. It is mostly wax so it has a very similar melting temperature and behavior as normal injection wax. I have a feeling that when this comes out, what will be the point of any SuperCast version…
